Steve Cozad: In the Shadow of Mount Everest
The Himalayas serve as the backdrop to two countries who’s reverence for these mountains runs back thousands of years. The societies of Nepal and Tibet developed in the shadow Mount Everest, at 29,032 feet (8,849 meters), the tallest mountain in the world. From their day-to-day lives to their chosen deities, their cultures are intertwined with the mountains. The stories of the old are carved into their faces, while the young are just beginning to create their own stories.
