Explore with Your Camera: Cosumnes River Preserve
Viewpoint is proud to launch its new field trip series entitled "Explore with Your Camera" which will include three workshops throughout 2026 taking place on location, in or near Sacramento County. The workshops will include both photography instruction based on the surrounding environment as well as information on the flora and fauna creating an informative and exciting field trip opportunity. Plan to attend one or all three at the reduced rate of $65 for members.
The first workshop will take place at the Cosumnes River Preserve, located about 30-minutes from downtown Sacramento. It is a very special place not only for its wildlife and valley habitats, but also as a photographic treasure. Using the richness of the Preserve to explore, you will find new subjects and create images, your instructor will focus on the ecology of the residents (and your subjects) as you walk from pond to wetland, river sloughs to river forest and grassland fields. As a group, you will share information about what you find, enabling you to make unique photographs of subjects you might otherwise miss and walk by.
Contact Jim Wilson for more information and questions.
Requests: No pets as they may disturb local wildlife. We will be slow walking about 4 miles during the day on boardwalks and trails (mostly paved). Additional details will be provided once you sign up for the workshop.
