Viewpoint Photographic Art Center is now accepting proposals for solo and group exhibitions for January 2027 through December 2027. Proposals for Main Gallery exhibits are open to all interested artists working in the photographic arts. Proposals for Step-Up Gallery exhibits are limited to current members of Viewpoint Photographic Art Center. The Step Up Gallery is a more intimate display area adjacent to the Main Gallery. Exhibits run concurrently in both galleries for approximately four weeks.
Located in Sacramento, California, Viewpoint Photographic Art Center is a non-profit arts organization offering a robust exhibit program in its two J Street galleries (Main Gallery and Step Up Gallery). Viewpoint also offers educational outreach programs, member services including Print and Portfolio nights, lectures, workshops and much more. Viewpoint is also the presenter of Photography Month Sacramento.
Viewpoint Photographic Art Center is committed to expanding cultural equity in the arts through
policies and programs aimed at ensuring equitable access, thus encouraging a more vibrant creative life for all in our community and society. Viewpoint provides equal opportunity for service in its programs and leadership. We respect and value diverse heritages and life experiences to foster creativity and ensure that all voices are heard.
Submissions
All proposals must be made using EntryThingy’s online submissions. The link can be found on the Viewpoint website under Exhibits/Call for Entries.
Submissions must be in digital format. The Curatorial Committee will not accept slides, prints, or other formats during its initial review, but may request samples of such work during the selection process.
Submissions must include a representative selection of 20 images from a finished, cohesive body of work, as well as a short artist’s statement. If selected for an exhibit, exhibitors must be prepared to show a minimum of 20 from their submitted body of work. The final number will be determined by the Viewpoint Curatorial Committee based on images sizes and available wall space.
Viewpoint Photographic Art Center will accept no more than two exhibit proposals by any one artist. Please differentiate proposals by exhibit title. Past solo exhibitors (and group exhibitors with less than five participants) must wait three years before having another solo exhibit at Viewpoint.
Proposals for solo or group exhibits must be submitted online by midnight on June 30, 2026. Late submissions will not be considered.
