CALL FOR ENTRIES THROUGH JUNE 30
Viewpoint Photographic Art Center is now accepting proposals for solo and group exhibitions from January through December 2026. The open call runs from May 1 through June 30, 2025. This call is open to all photographers, everywhere. It is important to note that Viewpoint values diversity, equity, and inclusion in its decision-making process.
Proposals for Main Gallery exhibits are open to all interested artists working in the photographic arts. Proposals for Step Up Gallery exhibits are limited to current Viewpoint Photographic Art Center members. The Step Up Gallery is a more intimate display area adjacent to the Main Gallery. Exhibits run concurrently in both galleries for approximately four weeks.
Viewpoint's Curatorial Committee considers all entries equally through a fair and comprehensive review process. Each year, new entries and artists apply, providing Viewpoint with a wide range of talent and subject matter. The committee's goal is to create a year of photographic art that is balanced in subject matter, execution, and diversity. Viewpoint presents 22 exhibits each year through the hard work of the Curatorial and Installation Committees.
Located in Sacramento, California, Viewpoint Photographic Art Center is a non-profit arts organization offering a robust exhibit program in its two J Street galleries (Main Gallery and Step Up Gallery). Viewpoint also provides educational outreach programs and member services, including Print and Portfolio nights, lectures, workshops, and more. Viewpoint is also the presenter of the region-wide annual photography event, Photography Month Sacramento, which takes place throughout April.
SUBMISSION PROCESS
All proposals must be made using EntryThingy’s online submissions. The link can be found on the Viewpoint website under Exhibits/Call for Entries.
Submissions must be in digital format. The Curatorial Committee will not accept slides, prints, or other formats during its initial review, but may request samples of such work during the selection process.
Submissions must include a representative selection of 20 images from a finished, cohesive body of work. Images must be 1 – 2 megabytes, with at least 1200 pixels on the long side.
Exhibitors must be prepared to show at least 20 images from their submitted body of work if selected for an exhibit. The Viewpoint Curatorial Committee will determine the final number based on image sizes and available wall space. Viewpoint Photographic Art Center will accept no more than two exhibit proposals by any artist. Please differentiate proposals by exhibit title. Past solo exhibitors (and group exhibitors with less than four participants) must wait three years before having another solo exhibit at Viewpoint. Proposals for solo or group exhibits must be submitted online by midnight on June 30, 2025. Late submissions will not be considered.
