Sharon Saltzman: Lotus Splendor

Sharon Saltzman creates work that highlights details in her surroundings and encourages the viewer to take a closer look at the world around us. When the constraints of Covid forced Saltzman to stay close to home, she frequented Sacramento’s William Land Park and honed in on the life cycle of the splendid lotus flower.

For many cultures, the lotus flower is a spiritual symbol of rebirth and revival. With the lotus as her muse, Saltzman spent the past two years meticulously photographing the kaleidoscopic colors of the plants flourishing in the Land Park Lotus Pond. The images exhibited in Lotus Splendor highlight Saltzman’s use of color and composition to illuminate the mystical essence of the plant.
