The Adventure:
Spend a morning on the beautiful Trinidad, California beach with award-winning black and white photographer Gary Wagner, photographing the surf and sand. Gary has been photographing the beautiful beaches of Northern California for over 30 years and has intimate insight on how to capture the most spectacular images. Gary photographs primarily in black and white, but color or black-and-white photography is perfect for this location. Photography will include long and short exposures and discuss how to make the best exposures with neutral density filters to capture the moving surf.
The Schedule
The workshop will start on the beach at sunrise and last 3-4 hours. The activity will include walking about one mile on the beach. Any camera will work for this workshop; a tripod is highly recommended.

| BIO | Gary’s love of photographic image and craft began when he became the photographer for his high school newspaper in Kokomo, Indiana. He continued his education at Indiana University in Bloomington, eventually moving to Santa Barbara, California, to attend Brooks Institute of Photography. For the past 40 years, Gary has made his home in Northern California. His images have been recognized by exhibitions in many galleries and publications throughout the country. Having won numerous awards, including Best of Show for two years at the Sacramento Fine Art Center, California State Fair Fine Art Exhibit, and Best of Show, and received awards annually for ten years in Black and White magazine. Gary’s most recent achievement was the publication of two books, “iPhone Photography for Everybody, Black and White Landscape Techniques” and “Digital Black and White Landscape Photography, Fine Art Techniques from Camera to Print,” both published by Amherst Media. He has also authored three self-published books: Sierra Nevada Mountains, Redwood Coast: Sea and Land, and Iceland: Forces of Nature. Gary finds the creation of photographic art today to offer endless possibilities for creativity and the making and sharing of visual art.
